Crash Yeye es un músico de Monterrey que es bien conocido en México entre los miembros de la comunidad LGBTQ+, gracias a su etapa como youtuber e instagramer, en la que compartió por casi dos años contenido sobre su vida personal. Hoy está completamente dedicado a su música con 155K seguidores en Instagram y 167K en TikTok.

En sus inicios, Crash Yeye puso mucho esfuerzo en YouTube, durante casi dos años subía un video a la semana. Hablaba de temas que sucedían en su vida personal, algunos viajes, o simplemente se conectaba para platicar con su comunidad que cada semana crecía más.

“Y cuando recién salió Instagram me gustó mucho, me encanta tomar fotos y aparte modelaba, entonces era una combinación perfecta para subir contenido”.

Fue en ese momento cuando muchas más personas conectaron con sus videos, algunos se hicieron virales y su cuenta de Instagram comenzó a crecer. Muchas personas de la comunidad LGBTQ+ se identificaron con su contenido.

Crash Yeye is a musician from Monterrey who is well known in Mexico among members of the LGBTQ + community, thanks to his stage as a youtuber and instagrammer, in which he shared content about his personal life for almost two years. Today he is completely dedicated to his music with 155K followers on Instagram and 167K on TikTok.

In his early days, Crash Yeye put a lot of effort into YouTube, for almost two years he uploaded one video a week. He talked about topics that happened in his personal life, some of his trips, or simply to connect and talk with his community that grew more every week.

“And when Instagram first came out, I liked it a lot, I love taking photos and I also modeled, so it was a perfect combination to upload content.”

It was at this time that many more people connected with his videos, some went viral and his Instagram account began to grow. Many people in the LGBTQ+ community identified with his content.

• ¿Qué impacto crees que has tenido en tus seguidores?

“Positivo, se siente muy bonito cuando leo que inspiro a la gente. En cuanto al tema de PRIDE, he recibido comentarios como: me ayudaste a salir del closet, a tomar una decisión”.

Hoy en YouTube hay muchos videos sobre “cómo salir del closet” y curiosamente si buscas algo del tema te puede salir un video de Crash Yeye. Estos contenidos son de relevancia en la comunidad LGBTQ+, “porque encuentras a alguien que te guía y te das cuenta que no estás solo”, dice Crash Yeye.

“Hoy estoy tiempo completo con mi música pero se siente muy bien que esos videos sigan siendo vistos”.

What impact do you think you've had on your followers?

“Positively, it feels really nice when I read that I inspire people. Regarding the subject of PRIDE, I have received comments such as: you helped me come out of the closet, to make a decision”.

Today on YouTube there are many videos about "how to come out of the closet" and curiously, if you are looking for something on the subject you can come across a video of Crash Yeye. This type of content is relevant in the LGBTQ+ community, "because you find someone who can guide you and you realize that you are not alone," says Crash Yeye.

"Today I'm full time with my music but it feels great that those videos continue to be seen."

• ¿Darías un consejo para “salir del closet”?

“Ya no deberíamos de ‘salir del closet’, espero que esa frase desaparezca en algún punto y que la gente no tenga que hacerlo porque no hay que darle explicaciones a nadie sobre tu vida íntima.

Sin embargo, vivimos en un mundo donde todavía en ciertos lugares es mal visto ser gay y por ende mucha gente siente la necesidad de hacer algo al respecto. Por eso hay muchos testimonios de ‘saliendo del closet’, porque la gente busca empatía.

Así que si estás leyendo esto, te confieso que no hay ni un día ni una forma de “salir del closet”. Cada momento y cada persona es única, sólo sé tú, vive tu vida. Y si tienes ganas de salir… también está bien, puede llegar a ser muy liberador”.

Would you give any advice to “come out of the closet”?

"We should no longer 'come out of the closet', I hope that phrase disappears at some point and that people don't have to do it because you don't have to give anyone explanations about your personal life.

However, we live in a world where it is still frowned upon to be gay in certain places and therefore many people feel the need to do something about it. That is why there are many testimonials of 'coming out', because people look for empathy.

So if you are reading this, I confess that there is neither a day nor a way to “come out of the closet”. Every moment and every person is unique, just be you, live your life. And if you feel like coming out… that's fine too, it can be very liberating.”

¿Quién te inspira de la comunidad LGBT+?

“@itsgeorgieboy que hace drag,me inspira porque es positivo e influyente, conecta muy bien con las personas por su honestidad. Le gusta cantar y poner a bailar a la gente, es súper alegre”.

En la música, Crash Yeye se inspira en Troye Sivan, que de hecho, también inició como youtuber antes de ser cantante, “además que es muy versátil, le entra a muchos géneros y le quedan muy bien”.

Who inspires you in the LGBT + community?

“@itsgeorgieboy who does drag, he inspires me because he is positive and influential. He connects very well with people because of his honesty. He likes to sing and make people dance, he is super cheerful”.

In music, Crash Yeye is inspired by Troye Sivan, who, in fact, also started as a youtuber before becoming a singer, "besides that he is very versatile, he sings many genres and they fit him very well."

¿Has ido a alguna marcha de Pride?, cuéntanos cómo fue tu primera experiencia.

“¡Sí! He ido a 3 o 4 en Ciudad de México. En la primera me invitaron a un carrito de Escandala y fue muy loco porque no sabía qué esperar de la marcha. La verdad tenía muchas preguntas, no tenía una buena idea al respecto…

Pero me encontré con una gran vibra, se siente muy “padre”. Encuentras a personas que te apoyan, que piensan lo mismo que tú, de verdad se siente una celebración y te das cuenta que hay mucha gente como tu. No somos una minoría”.

Ahí fue cuando Crash Yeye se dio cuenta del impacto que tiene en la comunidad, pues algunas personas lo saludaban y se querían tomar fotos con él, ya habían visto sus videos. Es más conocido de lo que se imaginaba.

“De hecho, la mayoría de mis seguidores son de Ciudad de México, ahí se siente más inclusión. Si no has ido a una marcha de PRIDE lo súper recomiendo”.

Have you been to a Pride parade? Tell us how your first experience was.

"Yes! I've been to 3 or 4 in Mexico City. In the first one they invited me to a Escandala float and it was very crazy because I didn't know what to expect from the event. I really had a lot of questions, I didn't have any idea of what it was like...

But I found a great vibe there, it feels very “cool”. You find people who support you, who think the same as you, it really feels like a celebration and you realize that there are many people like you. We are not a minority."

That's when Crash Yeye realized the impact he has on the community, as some people greeted him and wanted to take photos with him, they had already seen his videos. He is more well-known than he imagined.

“In fact, most of my followers are from Mexico City, it feels more inclusive there. If you haven't been to a PRIDE parade I highly recommend it."
