¿Qué onda con Bored Ape Yacht Club, las NFTs y el nuevo club de los millonarios?

Seguramente ya has visto a este simio mientras estás en Facebook o Instagram: es una sensación entre el mundo del arte y Hollywood. Yo lo conocí porque me salieron anuncios sobre él en Facebook, invitándome a comprar una NFT que recién subía de valor porque Justin Bieber había adquirido uno (?).

Bien, pues estos simios aburridos son la colección de Bored Ape Yacht Club, el proyecto NFT que ha generado alrededor de 3 mil millones de dólares basados en la criptomoneda Ethereum (ETH).

La colección de Bored Apes fue creada por Yuga Labs y puesta en venta el 23 de abril de 2021. Está conformada por 10,000 piezas únicas certificadas a través de NFTs.

¿Qué es un NFT y cómo adquiere valor?

Los NFT’s son certificados digitales que acreditan la autenticidad de una obra digital. Las ventas de estos activos digitales quedan registradas en cadenas de bloque o blockchains que contienen información sobre la propiedad de la pieza y el historial de precios y transacciones ligados a ellas.

Lo que caracteriza a los NFTs es que son únicos, indivisibles, transferibles y además se puede demostrar que son escasos.

Para algunos esta propuesta revolucionará el arte digital pues asegurará el uso debido de creaciones en la web. Para otros, es una propuesta que solo sirve para especular (como lo es el mundo de las criptomonedas) y para generar furor por el coleccionismo digital.

Así que los propietarios de alguno de los 10,000 Bored Apes tienen acceso a un club en línea y a eventos privados en el mundo real, además de ser dueños de los derechos de la imagen digital.

Es decir, los Bored Apes no son solamente JPGs ridículamente caros: son un boleto a un club en el metaverso ridículamente caro.

Sean un sinsentido o no, los monos Bored Yacht Club se han hecho cool porque son creados por un algoritmo aleatorio a través de unos prediseños y se han vendido por sumas millonarias, en parte gracias al FOMO de los famosos que los han comprado.

The Bored Apes collection was created by Yuga Labs and released on April 23, 2021. It is made up of 10,000 unique pieces certified through NFTs.

What is an NFT and how does it acquire value?

NFTs are digital certificates that prove the authenticity of a digital work. The sales of these digital assets are recorded in blockchains that contain information about the ownership of the piece and the history of prices and transactions linked to them.

What characterizes NFTs is that they are unique, indivisible, transferable and can also be shown to be scarce.

For some, this proposal will revolutionize digital art as it will ensure the proper use of creations on the web. For others, it is a proposal that only serves to speculate (as is the world of cryptocurrencies) and to generate a furore for digital collecting.

So, the owners of any of the 10,000 Bored Apes have access to an online club and private events in the real world, as well as owning the rights to the digital image.
