Latinx presence in the Austin City Limits

Este fin de semana da comienzo uno de los festivales de música más importantes del año, el Austin City Limits, que se llevará a cabo en el Parque Zilker del 7 al 9 y del 14 al 16 de octubre.

Austin City Limits Music Festival es un colosal festival de música multigénero que se celebra en la capital de Texas. Desde su primera edición, en 2002, se ha convertido en una fiesta de seis días que abarca dos fines de semana. Se ha vuelto un referente en cuanto a festivales de música y siempre cuenta con los mejores carteles del mundo.

Cada año tiene lugar en el Zilker Park junto al río Colorado, donde se instalan ocho escenarios que van desde pequeños e íntimos hasta enormes estadios.

Esta edición tiene como headliners The Chiks, SZA, Phoenix, Nathaniel Rateliff, Pink, Flume, Lil Nas X, Diplo, Death Cab For Cutie, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kacey Musgraves, Paramore y Zhu.

En el cartel podremos encontrar propuestas de músicos latinos como 123 Andrés, un dueto colombiano conformado por Andrés Salguero y Christina Sanabria. Este dueto apuesta por la música infantil, que reúne varios géneros como el joropo, la salsa y el cuarteto cordobés, con la calidad de una producción pensada para adultos.

Andrés y Christina se conocieron en Estados Unidos, cuando él se mudó para culminar sus estudios de música, y en ese entonces Christina ejercía como profesora de escuelas públicas; fue el tema de la niñez que los unió tanto profesionalmente como amorosamente.

Actualmente, son ganadores del Grammy y se han presentado en festivales de música como Lollapalooza.

También se presentará la banda bilingüe Luna Luna, originarios de Dallas, conformada por el vocalista Kevin González, el bajista Ryan Gordon, el tecladista Danny Bonilla y liderada por el baterista Kaylin Martínez.

Luna Luna es una banda de synthpop, con influencias del groove y ritmos latinos. A menudo cruzan géneros colaborando con artistas de rap o tomando prestado diferentes décadas de la música. La representación latinx también es un componente prominente de su música y misión de la banda; como en sus canciones “Fierra” y “Commitment”. Se han presentado en el SXSW y Eso Es Tour.

This weekend kicks off one of the biggest music festivals of the year, Austin City Limits, which will take place at Zilker Park from October 7-9 and 14-16.

Austin City Limits Music Festival is a colossal multi-genre music festival that takes place in the capital of Texas. Since its first edition, in 2002, it has become a six-day party spanning two weekends. It has become a benchmark in terms of music festivals and always has the best lineups in the world.

Each year it takes place in Zilker Park along the Colorado River, where eight stages are installed, ranging from small and intimate to huge stadiums.

This edition has The Chiks, SZA, Phoenix, Nathaniel Rateliff, Pink, Flume, Lil Nas X, Diplo, Death Cab For Cutie, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kacey Musgraves, Paramore and Zhu as headliners.

On the lineup we can find proposals from Latino musicians like 123 Andrés, a Colombian duet made up of Andrés Salguero and Christina Sanabria. This duet is committed to children's music, which brings together various genres such as joropo, salsa and the Cordovan quartet, with the quality of a production designed for adults.

Andrés and Christina met in the United States, when he moved to finish his music studies, and at that time Christina worked as a public school teacher; it was this childhood related affinity that united them both professionally and lovingly.

They are currently Grammy winners and have performed at music festivals like Lollapalooza.
