Met Gala 2024

La Met Gala es un evento benéfico que comienza con la exposición de moda anual del Instituto del Vestido del Museo Metropolitano de Arte de la ciudad de Nueva York.​ Con el fin de celebrar la exposición de primavera del Instituto del Vestido todos los invitados a la velada se visten de acuerdo con el tema del año, que en esta edición fue Garden of Time (El jardín del tiempo).

La Gala del Met se comenzó a celebrar en 1948, dos años después de que el Instituto del Vestido se trasladará al Museo Metropolitano de Arte, aunque fue hasta 1960 cuando esta celebración se trasladó al Met.​ Es uno de los eventos sociales más importantes en la agenda de Manhattan y allí se citan celebridades, empresarios, realeza, modelos, diseñadores y socialités de todo el mundo.​ La fiesta es codirigida por Anna Wintour —editora de la revista Vogue, directora editorial global de Condé Nast y copresidenta de la Gala del Met desde 1995—, más algunas personalidades honorarias que varían cada año, entre quienes destacan celebridades del mundo de la música y el cine.

The Met Gala is a charity event that begins with the annual fashion show of the Dress Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. In order to celebrate the dress institute's spring show, all guests of the Met Gala evening they dress according to the theme of the year, which in this edition was Garden of Time.

The Met Gala began to be celebrated in 1948, two years after the Costume Institute moved to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, although it was not until 1960 when this celebration moved to the Met. It is one of the most important social events in the Manhattan agenda and celebrities, businessmen, royalty, models, designers and socialites from all over the world meet there. The party is co-chaired by Anna Wintour - editor of Vogue magazine, global editorial director of Condé Nast and co-chair of the Gala of the Met since 1995—, plus some honorary personalities that vary each year, among whom are celebrities from the world of music and film. 

En esta ocasión, la alfombra roja de la Met Gala 2024, celebrada el pasado 6 de mayo, fue una de las noches más importantes en el mundo de la moda. La exposición correspondiente llevó por tema Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, la cual da una mirada a cómo la tecnología puede darle nueva vida a prendas demasiado viejas y frágiles.

Al evento los invitados fueron subiendo la escalinata del museo luciendo sus vestidos y trajes relacionados con el tema central del evento: Garden of Time, inspirado en una historia de J.G. Ballard sobre un conde que evita que una turba enardecida se acercara a su castillo cortando una por una las flores de su jardín para demorar el tiempo, hasta que no quedó ni una sola. Con esta historia de fondo, más la comunión de lo antiguo y lo nuevo, la Met Gala fue testigo de prendas diversas y variopintas, con muchas flores, alusiones al tiempo y alguna referencia a la Bella Durmiente.

Entre las personalidades invitadas destacan Chris Hemsworth, Zendaya y Jennifer López, que fueron coanfitriones junto a Anna Wintour. Más una plétora de cantantes, actrices y actores, modelos, atletas y famosos del mundo de la moda, todos ellos engalanando la alfombra roja durante la noche. Sin duda, la Met Gala 2024 atrajo todos los reflectores fashionistas y el mundo del cine y de la música. 

On this occasion, the red carpet of the Met Gala 2024, held on May 6, was one of the most important nights in the world of fashion. The corresponding exhibition was themed Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, which takes a look at how technology can give new life to old and fragile garments.

At the event, the guests climbed the museum's stairs wearing their dresses and costumes related to the central theme of the event: Garden of Time, inspired by a story by J.G. Ballard about a count who prevents an angry mob from approaching his castle by cutting the flowers from his garden one by one to delay time, until not a single one remains. With this background story, plus the communion of the old and the new, the Met Gala witnessed diverse and varied garments, with many flowers, allusions to time and some reference to Sleeping Beauty.

Among the invited personalities, Chris Hemsworth, Zendaya and Jennifer López stand out, who were co-hosts with Anna Wintour. Plus a plethora of singers, actresses and actors, models, athletes and fashion celebrities, all gracing the red carpet throughout the night. Without a doubt, the Met Gala 2024 attracted all the fashionista spotlights and the world of film and music.
